Anna Bromley and Ofri Lapid

Anna Bromley and Ofri Lapid will be our residenceis as part of a research for a new project

Anna Bromley (*1971, GDR) holds a MA in Social Science from the Humboldt University Berlin, and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of the Arts Bremen. Presently, she is a doctoral candidate at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Her thesis examines silliness as a phenomenon that is barred from western conceptions of recognition and understanding.

Since 2012, she has conceived and realized a series of exhibitions and conferences as a co-curator which deal with figurations of the circumvention of neoliberal values (Irregular – Economies of Deviation, nGbK Berlin, Doing Nerd, Heinrich-Böll-Foundation Berlin; The Fermentation Pavillion, Fondazione Forma Milano), with queer temporalities (What is queer today is not queer tomorrow, nGbK Berlin), with real time mastery over body and psyche (Therapeutic Alliances, Kampnagel Hamburg) and finally with queer-feminist aesthetics of cheering laughter (Redemption Jokes, nGbK Berlin)

Ofri Lapid (*1983, Israel) holds a MA in Fine Art from Weissensee Art Academy, Berlin and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Her work explores shifts of perspectives in ethnographic and documentary practices, based on field work and archival research. She participated in various group and solo exhibitions, such as: Mythographs, Apartment Project, Berlin, It is only a state of mind, NGBK Berlin and HDKV Heidelberg, Days of overlap, Rosenfeld Gallery, Tel Aviv and Vot Ken You Mach, Kunsthaus Dresden (together with Eran Schaerf). Since 2011 she also took part in many Art in Residence programs, mostly located in rural areas, where she developed site-specific projects: Partapur Showcase in Rajasthan, India, Gold Diggers in Chorbadzhiysko, Bulgaria and Trading Pasts, Ucayali Region, Amazonia, Peru, among others. Her PhD project originate from her latest work in Peru and examines the divergent narrations of indigenous geometrical patterns from early expeditions to current jungle tourism.
