Jasmin Vardi, born in 1989, holds a BFA (2015) from the School of Multidisciplinary Art, Shenkar Academic College, summa com laude. In 2014 she participated in an exchange program at the UdK, Berlin Academy of the Arts.
Vardi presented her work in Israel and abroad in various venues such as WRO 2017 DRAFT SYSTEMS – Biennale for Media Art in Poland (2017), The 18 Mediterranean Biennale for young artists in Albania, and The Tel-Aviv Artists studios and the gallery of the the Berlin Academy of the Arts.
Vardi is a grant recipient of the New Israeli Foundation for Cinema and Television, in cooperation with the Print screen festival and Feature Forward (2017), received a grant for special projects from the Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts (2016), the Shenkar President’s Award (2014) and the Dean’s Shenkar Prizes (2013,2012).
Vardi is a multi-disciplinary artist, working mainly in video and sculpture. In her practice she examines psychological and physical trauma. Her work focuses on blurring boundaries, giving conceptual and aesthetic expression to the oxymoron of the presence of absence, examining the active and passive influence on viewers (e.g, smell works that is related to PTSD studies), and emphasizing control of consciousness and body through power agencies.
