The Herzliya Artists’ Residence began its residency program in 1995, and since then has been hosting artists, curators, and researchers so that they may live and operate locally. The program provides the necessary space and time for art work and multi-layered cultural exchange, offering a professional work environment, and encouraging partnerships between various fields of knowledge in the creative community. The Residence includes three spacious and well-appointed apartments, and is situated in the heart of Herzliya B neighborhood, just six kilometers from Tel Aviv, a 15-minute drive from the Herzliya city center, ten minutes from the beach, and walking distance from public transportation.

The Artists’ Residence offers two residency tracks:

Residence programs: The Artists’ Residence provides tailor-made programs for professionals in a broad array of artistic endeavor and research. We seek to facilitate professionals in every stage of their work, as well as support various projects by hosting events and exhibitions, fundraising, production and administrative assistance, and also establishing a network of local contacts and the development of collaborations with local and international institutions. The residency programs are designed individually for each resident, adapted to address the specific requirements of artists, curators, and researchers active in myriad media. Each program is designed for a particular participant, and the particular project of the time, so no unified residency model applies.

Individual programs: The apartments are completely furnished, including a living room, kitchen, several bedrooms, air conditioning, and wireless internet access (a washing machine and drier are also available in the communal space). The Residence invites artists and curators to stay and enjoy the benefits of certain office services during their time with us. Each apartment is large enough for several guests if needed. The cost per night is NIS 200, regardless of number of occupants.

Application for the programs may be submitted throughout the entire year. Applicants may send a brief proposal, detailing the central points of their project and its requirements, the desired length of stay, as well as some personal information, such as examples of previous work and relevant links.

Artist Studios

The Artists’ Residence includes four work spaces, leased out to local artists for subsidized prices. Every two years, the Residence publishes a public call to artists interested in renting a studio. Requests are considered by a general committee that includes the Residence director and curator, along with representatives of the Herzliya Municipality’s culture department. Studios may be leased for a maximal period of three years per resident (2 years + 1-year extension). This time limit stems from our commitment to the local art scene, and the desire to see a range of artists to enjoy studio space. During their stay, residing artists contribute to the nearby communities in various ways, agreed on together with the Residence director and the changing needs of the communities. The studios are air conditioned, equipped with a sink and water heater, and are approximately 20-22 square meters.
