Romi Pavoncello

Romi Pavoncello is a multidisciplinary artist based in Tel Aviv. Raised in Italy and later immigrated to Israel, she holds a B.Ed.F.A in Art Education with a specialization in Art and Digital Media from Kibbutzim College of Education, Technology and the Arts. Alongside her artistic practice, she also works as a model, and through the tension between these fields, she explores questions of identity, representation, and the shifting boundary between reality and fiction.

Her practice engages with the growing presence of artificial intelligence within contemporary culture through a personal, dreamlike approach. Working with the system as both tool and collaborator, she uses her dreams and questions to generate shifting visual worlds.

The resulting works form a reality that is at once plausible and surreal, exploring the boundary between truth and fiction, and between natural and technological creation. Within these environments, the body appears as unstable and fluid, at times merging with its surroundings, at times dissolving into them, and at times suspended between presence and disappearance.

Her work moves between the intimate and the universal, lingering on moments of disruption, surrender, and suspension – almost like a breath held in time. Through these images, she approaches creation not as a point of origin, but as an ongoing process of transformation, fragmentation, and becoming.
