Shai Gal is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, journalist, Channel 12 News correspondent, and media lecturer.
His film Unknown: Cosmic Time Machine was broadcast on Netflix and was nominated for an American Emmy Award. The film followed the launch of NASA’s groundbreaking James Webb Space Telescope on its journey into space. His personal film End of the Love Season documented his parents’ separation in their eighties and had its premiere at the DocAviv Festival.
Shai is a correspondent for Studio 6 and Channel 12 News (last weekend his report on Arbel Yehud and Ariel Cunio was broadcast), and previously served as a reporter and team member on the investigative program Uvda.
His film The Jewish Underground (2018) won the Israeli Academy Award for Cinematography and the Research Award from the Documentary Filmmakers Forum. He lectures in media studies at the College of Management and is a graduate of the journalism program at the University of Michigan.
Shai is a Herzliya resident, father of three daughters, and also participated in the Israeli version of Dancing with the Stars.
