Born 1988, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Graduated at the filmmaking department in Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). Maya Dikstein also holds a MFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. She now lives and works in Tel Aviv. Her works focus on the human body, play with durational experiences and are featured by a crossbreeding between performance, installation and sound. Maya investigates the voice and its relation to movement, excrements and libido. She has shown widely in and outside Brazil: at the Museum of Modern Art (Rio de Janeiro), MuseumsQuartier (Vienna), Erratum Gallery (Milan), Fondazione Antonio Ratti (Como), Institute for Human Research (Arizona), Instituto Tomie Ohtake (São Paulo), among others. Maya has taken part in important publications together with Anri Sala, Tacita Dean and Hans Ulrich Obrist, published by Mousse, Fondazione Antonio Ratti and Gallery On The Move. Dikstein has also worked with the artists Tino Sehgal and Tunga, and has performed in their pieces respectively “These Associations” and “Amber Guests”.
