Keren Bergman is a filmmaker, visual artist, and film researcher. She is a graduate of “The Sam Spiegel Film & Television school,” Jerusalem. During her studies, she directed the short narrative “Shir in The Water,” for which she received the first prize for a Debut Film. The film was officially selected for various international film festivals. In 2017, she directed “Like- Home,” an independent short narrative that premiered at the “Tel- Aviv International Film Festival.”
Keren’s experiences as part of a “family on the spectrum” formed her cinematic work, where she focuses on the delicate power balances degrees within mutual, unequal relationships.
Keren continued her work as an archival researcher and was fascinated by the politics of visual history preservation in the digital world. In 2018, she accompanied director Vanessa Lapa as a researcher and second editor in the documentary film “Speer Goes To Hollywood,” constructed exclusively from archival footage from 46 different archives. The film was awarded Best Documentary at the Israeli Academy competition. Keren continued her work as an archival researcher and was fascinated by the politics of visual history preservation in the digital world.
In 2019, with the support of Mifal HaPais- The New Media Path, she directed the video “Under their Custody” in collaboration with the artist Jonathan Ofrat. The work tackles the subject of personal autonomy and society’s standards of normality. It was exhibited at the “HaMifal” gallery in Jerusalem.
