Efrat Rubinstein

Born Kiryat Ata (1986). Lives in Bat Yam and works in Jaffa.

Graduated the MFA program of Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, 2017, and the Bezalel BFA program, 2015, with honors.

Her multidisciplinary work (painting, video, installation) involves actions of blending ideas and interpersonal communication. She creates dialogues that links her family biography to contemporary phenomenas in an attempt to develop a new way of looking at what is or has occurred. Mainly, she is interested in relationships between women, which she finds them to be more complex in comparison to relationships between men and women. This is due to the visibility, criticism and analysis presented to women more intensively, and therefore their way of treatment to each other being under the circumstances of being under such high exposure.

Rubinstein won the Lorraine and Mitchell Presser Foundation prize for Excellence in Art. The Mandel Foundation Israel Prize and the Excellence Fellowship: “Amitei Bezalel”. She also received recognition for her significant contribution to the community in the art field on behalf of the Rothschild Foundation, the President of Bezalel and the Tel Aviv Municipality.

She exhibited paintings, videos and installation works in spaces such as: The Herzliya Artists’ Residence, the Nolovaz Gallery, Miriam Nissenholz Gallery, the Moshe Kupferman Collection, the Cube gallery in Jerusalem, The Hazit, the “Yefe Nof” art event in Haifa, the Barbur Gallery and the Kaphistofa Gallery in Reykjavik, Iceland.
