We are happy to partner with the Lithuanian Culture Institute to host again one of the most prominent Lithuanian contemporary performance and sound artists Lina Lapelytė, for an evening dedicated to her work that will take place at the Tel Aviv Museum at April 16.
Lapelytė’s practice is deeply rooted in music and pop culture. Throughout her artistic career, she explored various forms of performance, crossing genre boundaries while entwining folk rituals with popular music and opera formats. In her work, she often discusses gender stereotypes, ageing and nostalgia. Her opera “Sun&Sea” (together with Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė, Vaiva Grainytė) was selected for this year’s Lithuanian pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennial, the first all-female pavilion to represent the country. The evening at the museum will display three of her pieces, including one she will perform herself. To experience the works guests will travel through different spaces in the Tel Aviv museum of art and the evening will conclude with a public talk between the artist and the museum’s chief curator for the contemporary art Ruti Director.
Performances: „Piruette“, „Ladies“, „Candy Shop – the Song“.
