Karen Dolev (b. 1994, Jerusalem) is a visual artist based in Tel Aviv-Jaffa.
She holds a BFA and an MFA from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design (Jerusalem, 2017, Tel Aviv, 2023), and has participated in Gerrit Rietveld Academie’s student exchange program (Amsterdam, 2016). Her practice includes mainly drawings, through which she examines the point of connection between the industrialized and the crude, to the sublime and the spiritual. In her works she employs both light and color in her attempts to articulate a suspended space—tranquil, ethereal.
Her works has been presented in group exhibitions and solo exhibitions in Israel, including the 8th Biennale for Drawing, Jerusalem Artists’ House, Jerusalem; Bezalel Academy Fine Arts department gallery, Jerusalem; Hansen House, Jerusalem; “Loving Art Making Art” festival, Tel Aviv; Binyamin gallery, Tel Aviv, and more. Dolev has been awarded a Fine Arts grant from The Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts, Tel Aviv. She is a co-founder of “Halal Bastudio”, an artist-run project space featuring exhibitions by emerging artists. In 2024, Dolev will participate in Mifal HaPayis Artists’ Greenhouse, at Ramat Hasharon Contemporary Art Gallery.
